Brian Krebs, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, Cert MDT –Director
Brian has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from SUNY Stony Brook and then completed a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. He has over 17 years of experience as a physical therapist and is currently the Director at STARS. Brian specializes in spine rehabilitation and orthopaedics, as well as sports and golf rehabilitation. He is certified in the McKenzie Method (Cert. MDT) for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders. Additionally, he is also a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT) through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars and Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Brian has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
Douglas Griffin, PT, Manager
Doug earned his Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy at SUNY Stony Brook. With over 14 years of experience, his focus has been in the area of neurological rehabilitation specializing in Multiple Sclerosis, balance, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury. He has additional experience in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation. Additionally, Doug leads the group Multiple Sclerosis Physical Therapy Program at STARS.
Michael Kamme, PT, Cert MDT, Supervisor
Michael is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Masters Degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. With over eight years of experience, his clinical focus has been in the areas of spine care, orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation. Michael is certified in the McKenzie Method for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal dysfunctions.
Robert Manzolillo, PT, Supervisor
Robert is a Physical Therapist with a Bachelor Degree from SUNY Stony Brook and over 22 years of experience. His focus has been in the areas of ergonomics, orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation. Robert has completed numerous continuing education courses in the areas of chronic musculoskeletal pain, ergonomic intervention, skill path management and gait. He also serves as a STARS ergonomic consultant, specializing in workplace evaluations and proper lifting techniques.
Myra Cabahug, PT, Senior Physical Therapist
Myra earned her Bachelor Degree in Physical Therapy from The Ago Medical and Educational Center- Bicol Christian College of Medicine in the Philippines. With over 21 years of experience, her clinical focus lies in orthopaedic rehabilitation, breast cancer rehabilitation, sports therapy and joint replacements. Myra has completed numerous continuing education courses in the areas of spine rehabilitation, pediatrics, golf rehabilitation, gait analysis, and Strain and Counter-Strain for the Extremities.
Jessica Daigle, MA, OTR/L, Senior Occupational Therapist
Jessica joined the STARS team in 2009 with over 18 years of experience. She received her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University and Bachelors Degree in rehabilitation services from Springfield College. Jessica’s primary specialty is in the areas of outpatient neurological rehabilitation, specifically spinal cord injury, stroke, and brain injury. Since joining the STARS team, Jessica has established and implemented the wheelchair clinic.
Soyouen Ahn, DPT, CLT – Senior Physical Therapist
Soyouen is a licensed Physical Therapist and a certified Lymphedea Therapist. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University and her Masters in Physical Therapy from Husson University. With over 9 years experience in both orthopedic and neurologic settings, Soy’s diverse expertise is highlighted by 4 years at Mount Sinai Hospital where she was the leader of the Lymphedema and Breast Cancer Rehab Program. Soy’s clinical focus lies in upper and lower extremity Lymphedema caused by cancer, vascular pathology or of traumatic origin. Additionally, she is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the National Lymphedema Network (NLN). Soy is a co-author of “A Comparison of Knowledge of Results and Manual Guidence in the Learning of a Wight Bearing Skill” – Journal of Neurological Physical Therapy.
James Battaglia, MA, OTR/L, CHT
James has over 12 years experience as an Occupational Therapist and over 7 years experience as a Board Certified Hand Therapist. He received his Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University and Bachelor of Science from Hofstra University. He also received his Advanced Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management from Stony Brook and is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree at Hofstra University. James has worked in all levels of rehabilitation care from the hand to the shoulder treating illnesses, injuries and patients who have undergone surgery. These include traumatic injuries of the hand, tendon and nerve repair, orthopedic and neurological conditions, and fabrication of custom static and dynamic splints. Additionally, James is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT).
Cynthia Leone, DPT, NCS
Cynthia is a licensed physical therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Neurology through the APTA. With over 9 years of experience Cynthia’s clinical focus includes Neurologial and Orthopedic Rehabilitation. She has several years of both inpatient and outpatient experience
Roz Biercuk, PT
Roz earned her Bachelor Degree in Physical Therapy from SUNY Stony Brook. She has over 40 years of experience specializing in hand therapy. Her focus has been in the areas of tendon trauma, nerve compression syndrome, sprains / strains, and custom dynamic and static splinting. Her patient population includes, but is not limited to, orthopaedic, neurologic and rheumatologic diseases of the elbow wrist and hand.
Marissa Gorlesky, MPT
Marissa is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Masters in Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University. With over 10 years of experience, her clinical focus lies in orthopaedics, sports rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation. Prior to joining the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Marissa worked in outpatient, hospital based and home care settings.
Dolis Estevez, DPT
Dolis is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Mercy College. She is also certified and licensed in Massage Therapy (LMT).
Dolis’ clinical focus lies in orthopaedics, neurological rehabilitation, specifically Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and balance and gait dysfunction. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Lauren Varriale, MS, OTR/L
Lauren has over 6 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist. She received her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and her Bachelors Degree from New York Institute of Technology. Lauren’s primary specialty is in the areas of outpatient neurological rehabilitation, specifically: spinal cord injury, stroke, and brain injury. She is certified in the Bioness Electrical Stimulation for Upper Extremity (H200)and the Functional Electrical Stimulation Bike.
Donald Rourke, PT
Don is a Physical Therapist and a Certified Personal Trainer with over 19 years of experience. He graduated with his Bachelors Degree from SUNY Stony Brook and is an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Don is specialty-trained and credentialed through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) as well as a Functional Movement Specialist. His clinical focus lies in sports rehabilitation and orthopaedics – utilizing advanced fitness training concepts for athletes of all levels and abilities.
Brigid M. Dunne PT, DPT, OCS
Brigid is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami. With over 14 years experience, her clinical focus lies in orthopaedic rehabilitation. Brigid is also Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Additionally, Brigid is also a Physical Therapy laboratory instructor at both Long Island University and Hunter College.
